Trade Counter Supervisor



My client is a industrial supplier that sells consumables to Engineering, Welding and Construction Trades.

The Role:

Ideally, they are looking for an experienced Trade Counter Supervisor with direct industry knowledge and experience to lead their small Trade Counter Team. They will also consider candidates with transferable knowledge and skills from across the Construction industry but above all, they are looking for a strong work ethic, great leadership skills and a passion for customer service.

Duties Include:

  • Ensure a consistent, high standard of service is delivered by the Trade Counter Team
  •  Serving and assisting customers over the counter
  •  Operation of the till and database system
  • Processing of Cash/Card transactions 
  • Raising of invoices/credits 
  •  Daily reconciliation of the till 
  •  Dealing with telephone enquiries and liaising with other departments
  •  Manage customer expectations/complaints in a professional and efficient manner 
  •  Ensure effective communication between the trade counter and other departments
  • Monitor the ordering and replenishment of stock
  • Plan and arrange the presentation of trade counter displays to optimise sales opportunities 
  • Maintain and raise awareness of Health and Safety working practices

Skills and Attributes:

  •  Experience within a Trade Counter Supervisory role
  •  Direct or transferable industry knowledge and experience is highly desirable
  • Presentable with a personable approach to customer service
  • Accurate attention to detail and great organisational skills
  •  Excellent communication with the ability to cultivate long lasting customer and colleague relations
  • Ability to lead and motivate a small team whilst working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Solution focused with the confidence to make sound decisions
  • Flexible approach to working and adaptable to meet the business needs
  • Highly committed to good housekeeping and Health & Safety awareness
