CNC Machinist



My client is a leading global engineering company. They are a power management company, making energy efficient products and services, they are responsible for providing solutions that help their customers effectively manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more efficient and sustainable.
They are currently recruiting for a CNC Machinist to join their ever expanding team. The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting and operating CNC turning and milling machines in order to produce parts to engineering technical drawings following set operating procedures. The successful candidate will ideally have the knowledge to review parts to ensure they comply with measurements on drawings and take remedial action as appropriate by adjusting offsets.


  • Working closely with the pre setter to ensure tooling is set up correctly to comply with part numbers.
  • Obtain and maintain 'A stamp' approval status for machine and processes
  • Set CNC machine to specific programme as per part number and work instruction sheet via utilisation of the DNC link (direct numerical control) on computer
  • Load tooling as appropriate into CNC machine
  • Check accuracy of parts using appropriate measurement tools
  • Take appropriate action if errors occur
  • Knowledge and application of lean principles/tools/5 S/seven wastes, participating in Kaizen events and problem solving
  • The ability to work to work on different machines and assisting colleagues when needed.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in setting and operating CNC turing together milling and mill/ turning machines (advantageous to have both qualities) 
  • Experience of Programming and Operating Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMM's) an advantage
  • Ability to Read and interpret Engineering Drawings, with a practical working understanding of Geometric Tolerancing (use of geometric symbols)
  • Good level of computer literacy
  • Experience of Inspection of parts to comply with industry and company standards

Desired Experience:

  • Experience of Fanuc and Heidenhein operating systems 
  • Worked on HICELL machines


Apprentice Qualified or similarly experienced Machinist with CNC Turning and/or Milling experience
