One of our clients, a national house builder, are looking for an experienced Land Manager to join their team.

Reporting to the Strategic Land Acquisition Director, the main purpose of the role is to identify, negotiate and acquire interest in strategic land suitable for residential and mixed-use development.
Key accountabilities and typical activities:
-Identify, negotiate and acquire interest in strategic land suitable for residential and mixed-use development in the area of employment with a focus on the priority areas identified by the Strategic Land Team.
-To monitor Development Plans to identify possible future development sites suitable for purchase under option or promotional agreements.
-To carry out initial appraisals of sites, including liaising with Local Planning Authorities, to assess the potential of land for development.
-To liaise with and keep the Strategic Land Acquisition Director informed of all negotiations prior to the formulation of an offer and to agree the basis of an offer with the Strategic Land Acquisition Director prior to its submission, ensuring that all offers are made subject to contract.
-To negotiate the purchase of land through conditional contracts, options or promotional agreements, directly with land agents / landowners providing appropriate instructions to our clients appointed solicitors.
-To advise and support the Strategic Land team on the coordination of necessary technical investigations required to ensure that the land can be satisfactorily developed.
-To assist in preparing papers as required for Executive Leadership Team Meetings, Divisional or Regional Board Meetings, and Strategic Land Meetings and attend as required.
-Engage with the Strategic Planning and Development Delivery Teams to ensure that all relevant milestones and triggers are met regarding planning/acquisition strategies and formal contractual obligations.
Skills & experience -
Education/Training/Qualifications:
-Degree in Estate Management or equivalent.
Relevant Experience:
-Demonstrable track record of buying land in area of employment.
-A good understanding of legal agreements for conditional, option and promotion land purchases.
-Competent in producing financial viabilities for residential development opportunities.
-Proven list of land and development contacts in area of employment.
-Strong understanding of national and local planning policy and status of Local Development Plans in area of employment.
Special skills or knowledge:
-Strong mathematics and IT ability.
-Ability to assess and analyse information.
-In depth understanding of budget management.
-Excellent negotiation and networking skills.
-A pragmatic approach to problem solving.
