Senior Designer

Are you a creative and motivated individual wanting to work for a reputable company?
One of our clients, a national house builder, are currently looking for a Senior Designer in the Exeter area to join their expanding team.
Key accountabilities:
-Negotiate effectively with a wide range of organisations, statutory bodies and interest groups to achieve the desired design outcomes.
-Design innovative solutions to counter unique land conditions.
-Cooperate, coordinate and communicate relevant information between the required departments within the Company.
-Ensure familiarity and adherence to the department’s best practice policy together with any appropriate Company policies and procedures.
-To design and achieve internal and external approvals in principle in order to give certainty in the viability of scheme within the programmed timescales.
-Produce feasibility and detailed layouts for a variety of residential projects throughout the region.
-To work in harmony with planning development briefs in preparation of design and concept statements for planning purposes, taking due account of site constraints.
-To design and adapt standard house types as required for both speculative and social housing schemes forming part of the established divisional range.
-To utilise the broader advantage of CAD systems to improve levels of presentation.
-To review design programme requirements and disseminate information.
-To ensure that the design team is adequately briefed on the preparation of planning applications.
-To prepare and submit planning applications to include consultation with planning authorities at all stages to achieve timely approvals, including subsequent conditions.

Skills and Experience:
-Degree in Architectural Technology or similar discipline
-5 years within the house building industry
-To be able to visualise design concepts and communicate these to relevant parties
-A methodical approach to working practices
-Decision maker with pragmatic approach to problem solving
-Able to influence and persuade others
-A self-starter capable of creating and maintaining momentum in projects
