Building Surveyor

BARNSTAPLE (DEVON) AREA

Description:

One of our client have an exciting role, for an experienced Building Surveyor to join their expanding chartered surveying business.
The applicant must be proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) and have good experience with Planning and Building Control and be able to develop new clients.

Working alongside Chartered Surveyors and the rest of the team, you’ll be involved in many aspects of building surveying work such as:
- Technical design and detailing
- Deal with planning applications and advise on property legislation and building regulations
- Site based measurement & digital topographical land surveys
- Client liaison and communication
- Organise documents for tender and advise on appointing contractors, designers and procurement routes
- Contract Administration
- Undertake site visits and progress reporting
- Ensure projects are completed on budget and to schedule

The successful applicant will work in their busy Barnstaple based surveying practice on a wide variety of construction projects across the UK. This will involve working closely with the existing surveying staff to further strengthen the team and may involve travelling to projects throughout the UK.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Evidence of previous work experience within the construction industry is desirable
- Good communication skills – both verbal and written
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
- Excellent IT skills, including computer-aided design (CAD)
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
- Understands the importance of meeting customers’ needs
- Keen interest in construction and a willingness to progress within the industry
- Applicant must have a good knowledge of construction and will ideally have on site experience, however full training and career progression will be provided.
