Head of Sales & Business Development



My client, a multi company organisation is looking to develop their portfolio. They are on the hunt for a Group Sales & Group Business Development Manager.

This position is full of surprises which will lead to you growing with the company. Taking them to new horizons and experiences.

This role will involve providing leadership to a team, developing and executing the strategic and short-term sales plans for 2 businesses.

You will report directly to the Managing Director focusing your meetings on polices and forward planning for both businesses.

You will be multi skilled in your approach and be able to multi task and adapt to each situation on a daily basis.

You will be required to cover the South West – so time management is a key element to the working week.

There will be strong focus on business development, sales & business sales strategy, sustainable growth, client relationships and sales team development and ongoing management.

Specifically, the Head of Sales & Business Development will be responsible for the following: -

  • Strategic leadership and management of the business in relation to sales, business development and team management
  • Delivery of the strategy and business plans
  • Participate in the development of strategy
  • Responsible for sales performance, ensuring group KPI's, turnover and gross profit targets are met
  • Develop and maintain client relationships as well as generating new client and business relationships
  • Lead and participate in monthly tactical planning and review meetings with the senior management team
  • Provide the MD with timely and accurate weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Lead, motivate and energise the group by establishing a clear vision and strong communication. direct resources and ensure effective management of all sales staff.

Person Specification:

Competency Requirements

  • You will ideally have worked at a senior level within a service-related industry
  • Be experienced in both B2B and B2C on a senior level
  • Be an inspirational leader and strong team player, with the entrepreneurial ability to operate and excel in a changing and growing environment
  • Have well-developed presentation/communication skills
  • Have the ability to assist in formulating business plans (long term and tactical)
  • Gravitas and profile to lead at a senior level and able to demonstrate the ability to influence change and build strong leadership and management skills within the businesses
  • The Head of Sales & Business Development must be capable of maintaining a high level of energy and team spirit that enhances goal attainment.
  • Must be able to develop business, exceed sales targets and lead from the front. 

Technical / Professional Expertise and Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of an HNC, with CIOB or degree qualification desirable
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership position
  • Willingness and ability for occasional travel throughout the UK and significant travel within Cornwall, Devon & Somerset

You will bring a track record in leading successful change, business growth and profit maximisation, robust sales, business development and commercial acumen supported by a degree equivalent business/construction qualification and strong general management capabilities.

Duration: Permanent

Salary: From £28000 to £36000 per Annum
