My client, a renowned and established company of nearly 2 decades are looking for an additional key member of their Management team. The company have a workforce of over 300 employees so you will be part of a growing team.

This position will require: -

Buying experience of over 5 years would be a distinct  advantage along with experience within the construction industry. Ground-works and/or civil engineering experience will be a distinct advantage
A proven track record of commercial awareness & negotiation skills
Be a good communicator at all levels
Be highly organised
Be able to  prioritise tasks & work calmly & rationally whilst under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Have a positive outlook & can-do attitude
Ability to work to deadlines
Attention to detail
Comprehensive understanding of MS excel & outlook
Team player
And have a NVQ level 4 minimum qualification in a construction related qualification preferred but not essential

Your role will include: - 

To procure all materials for the best possible price, in accordance with the contract specification & delivered to comply with the site programme
You will be responsible to manage the assistant buyer
Analyse current supply chain price agreements & site orders lists & obtain competitive prices where agreed prices are not available to enable orders to be placed
Compare suppliers’ quotes & analyse prices against tender allowances
Research product information & alternative products
Liaise with other members of staff to order materials as requested via phone & email
Liaise with suppliers & advise site staff of delivery dates for orders
Update site orders where necessary to avoid invoice queries
File & organise emails to ensure that historic information is available as required
Maintain current stock lists & aim to use materials on other sites where cost effective to do so
Assist the accounts department to resolve & avoid invoice queries
Liaise with site staff & notify suppliers of any delivery or quality issues & pass on & agree abortive costs to suppliers as necessary
Measure quantities of materials if required
Manage & check the design & orders of concrete flooring & manholes

Your working week will be Monday to Friday (08.00 - 17.00)

Holiday allowance 20 days plus bank holidays 

Additional hours may be required depending on work load and peaks in the business

Duration: Permanent 

Salary: From £40000 to £50000 per Annum
